Localization troubles

Hi guys

I started working on localization of Cogs to Ukrainian lang and got some problems.
1) There is need in Cyrillic font. So I think it's important to know what font you used. Could you tell me pleeease?
2) Problem above isn't realy critical. I used another font but got second problem. When game display texts - font is black and white in-game, no transparent colors present. :/ WTF? Could you tell what color is realy transparent?
3) Question above may be incorect, in other words: what programs have you used for creating fonts, why main font bitmap is completely black, why White color in your font18black-selected.bmp is transparent and my White color is not?

Hi, Danbst -

We're just finishing the Russian localization package, so you'll have access to Cyrillic fonts very soon!  Hopefully we'll launch those within two weeks.

To answer your second and third questions, the font image were created in Photoshop.  They have an alpha channel to define transparency.

oh i understand. mspaint doesn't know about alpha channel - that was my problem.

and one more question. how would you change language fonts - create two different font files for latin and cyrillic langs and switch them? 'cause existing cyrillic encodings will replace unique spanish, french, german letters. As I understand your font18.txt and font28.txt have only 256 entries so you use 8bit symbols.

Or you will make Unicode support?

Hi, danbst -

Assuming you have a legitimate version of Cogs, we patched in support for UTF-8 encodings in order to have cyrillic fonts.  Creating a font file is actually quite a complicated process.  First, you have to lay out all the characters in an image.  Then you have to encode the coordinates of those characters in a text file (We're using font18.txt and font28.txt for this).

But don't worry -- we've already done the work for you!  The Russian localization will be released soon.  It will be free to download and will include cyrillic fonts.

OK, I'll better wait for your fonts. (In fact I allready have done new font files but with completely other fonttype and understand how complex is your work).

I will finish Ukrainian translation on Wiki while waiting.
