I activated the humble bundle on steam, but got the following crash when starting the game. Using Mac OS X 10.5.8.

What graphics card do you have? If it's an Intel GMA 950 or older, then it won't have the horsepower needed to run Cogs.

Another thing to check: Right-click the game in your Steam client and select Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Cache to make sure that the game content downloaded properly.

It seems I could run the game just fine if I download directly from the humble bundle site and launch, instead of through the steam client (great game btw!).

Here is the "System configuration" part of the crash report, including graphics card:

--- Code: ---Model: MacBookPro4,1, BootROM MBP41.00C1.B03, 2 processors, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz, 4 GB
Graphics: GeForce 8600M GT, GeForce 8600M GT, spdisplays_pcie_device, 256 MB
Memory Module: global_name

--- End code ---

I tried the Verify Integrity, but still got the same error.

What is the difference between launching from Steam, and launching the one downloaded from humble bundle site?

There are very slight differences in the game engines due to weird intricacies of working with either the App Store or Steam. All the puzzles are identical.

Any other ideas what could be causing the problem when launching from Steam? It would be nice to be manage my games in Steam. Let me know if more information is needed.
