Error: Game won't start Intel 950 Mobile Graphics

Just tried to play the game on my HP 1000 Netbook.

Specs:
xp sp3
2gb RAM
1.6ghz Intel Atom Processor
Intel Mobile i950gme integrated graphics card  (correction 950, not 945.  945 is the chipset)
Graphics card driver version: 6.14.10.4926

I honestly have no idea if the graphics card can run the game, but I do believe it should start the game up, which it is not doing.

Specific Error on the screen:

Error: Unable to start the game.  It appears that your graphics hardware does not support Direct3D 9.

I am able to go through dxdiag and run the direct3d tests from 7, 8 , and 9 all of which work.

Ideas or anything you want me to try?  (Graphics drivers updated, and it didn't make a difference.)

Looking online, I know the card will run 3dmark 2006, granted with a score of 100 or so, but it will run it.  GPU-Z also says it has direct X 9 support, and SM 2.0 support.

Yup.  It looks like your card should support DirectX 9.  Here are the spec I found online:

One thing to try: make sure that hardware acceleration is enabled...

Display properties -> settings tab -> advanced -> troubleshoot tab ->
enabled full hardware acceleration.

A bit of a stab in the dark, but worth a try.  If that doesn't work, and you're willing to spend some time working with me to figure this out, email me and I'll send over a customized build that returns a more detailed error message and attempts to create a graphics device with several different settings.

Hardware acceleration is set to full.

      I do have some time to help you narrow it down, but I am going on vacation in the next few days.  I will try and get the info back to you as fast as I can, but I don't exactly know when I will have internet access after Saturday.  (Friday night your time, I'm on the other side of the world).  As long as I get this other build before I leave, there shouldn't really be any problems.

I wanted to try v2 beta today on my powerpc dual 2GHz. When I start the program the splash screen appears und i can select all menus but the prgram itself the GUI wont open up. Please help.

Hey, criuz -

Can you give me more details?  When you say you can select the menus, does that mean that you can select the "Inventor Mode" button?  Please look in the Cogs application directory for a file named log.txt and send it to rob@lazy8studios.com.  That will give me more details about any problems you may be having.  If you purchased Cogs from Steam, you can find the log file here:

    C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\cogs\log.txt

If you purchased from Direct2Drive, then you can probably find the log file here:

    C:\Program Files\Cogs\log.txt

If you don't see the log file, then you're using a pirated version, which will make me slightly more reluctant to help you.
