Hi there,

The short answer is: no, it's not normal, but if you can play the game fine, then you don't need to worry about it too much.

The long answer is that Google Play sometimes serves devices the wrong version of Cogs for their graphics hardware, which results in people installing a version of Cogs that is not graphically supported by their phone or tablet.  Since this is an issue between Google Play and user devices, we can't "fix" it.  We added a workaround that allows people who install the wrong version to still play the game, but with slightly worse graphics.  If the quality of the graphics doesn't bother you, you don't need to do anything.  If you'd rather have the optimized version for your device, try these steps:

- Uninstall Cogs
- Clear cache on your Play Store app
- Reboot your device
- Re-download and install Cogs
- If you're using the app Chainfire 3D, we recommend disabling or uninstalling it before re-downloading Cogs from the Play Store.

Hello,

We're not exactly sure how My Backup Pro works, but we are sure that the save files for Cogs are located at /data/data/com.lazy8studios.cogs/files.  You may want to ask My Backup Pro about the issue.

Hi usurper,

Thanks for reporting this issue.  We haven't heard of any problems with multi-touch on the Motorola Defy before, but we are working on a fix for Cogs right now that will address general issues with multi-touch.  This fix may be able to resolve your issue.  I don't have an ETA on it, but it'll be in the next update, and we're hoping to get that out in the near future.  We'll keep an eye out for more reports.

The location of your saved games should be here: /data/data/com.lazy8studios.cogs/files

Hi there,

It sounds like you're having some difficulty with Cogs on your Transformer Prime.  The Transformer Prime has a tendency to start crashing while running apps if it hasn't been rebooted in a while.  Does rebooting help anything?  Have you tried running Cogs with the tablet in Performance mode?  That may help, too.

Side note: are you running stock Android or a custom ROM?  We don't support custom ROMs.

We'll look into this on our end as well.

We have been able to reproduce the issue on the HTC Wildfire S.  The Wildfire S has been moved to the unsupported devices list while we work on resolving the problem.  Thanks for reporting!

Have you tried force closing the application to stop it entirely?  Go to Settings --> Applications --> Cogs and then click on Force Close or Stop.

Also, which model of the Galaxy SII are you using, and which version of Android is it running?

Hi there,

This is a known issue with the HTC Desire and a couple other phones, and it's the main reason why the HTC Desire is listed as an unsupported device for Cogs.  We're still working on fixing the issue and will update when we figure out what's going on.

Hey there,

Thanks for reporting this bug and including the log.  This is a bug that we've seen before with Cyanogen and we'll work on reproducing it and getting out a fix. 

EDIT: Here's a tip from one of our engineers.

Use the command "adb shell df" to check your free memory in /data/data.  If the free memory is less than 200MB, you'll be in trouble when installing larger games.  CM7 will not-so-gracefully ignore files it doesn't have space for when unzipping the APK.  You can a) try to clear out some of the used portions of the /data/data mount point, or b) try to move files to the SD card, or c) try to resize the /data/data mount point (this option is possibly dangerous - not for the faint of heart).

Cogs for Android / FIXED: Achievements button

Touching the Achievements button in the main menu for Cogs is known to crash the game (or it shows "0 out of 0 achievements earned").  This is an issue with OpenFeint and we are working with them to fix the integration.  Thanks for your patience!
